Conclusion for my social studies research project.

The subject i chose was the Antarctic ice sheets melting and making the sea levels hire here is a bit of what i have learnt into one paragraph.

The sustainable issue I focused on was the antarctic ice sheets melting. The antarctic is melting away and causing our sea levels to rise. The cause of this is greenhouse gases and fossil fuels going into our atmosphere and warming up our planet. If this continues to happen  the water levels will rise really high and flood our coastal countries. This would be bad for humans because they have nowhere to live or get food. We can help by helping climate change and global warming. Just little things help like planting a tree to help produce Co2 or using your three R’s Reduce Reuse and Recycle.

gmnastics term

The last few weeks we have been focused on gymnastics in PE.

The skills that i already had when i started gymnastics were a front roll, Walking on the beam, a back drop on the trampoline, a handstand and swing bar. 

I have improved at doing a front flip on the mini tramp by landing it. `

I would like like to learn to do a backflip.

Colour is important in creating the two worlds and showing the theme 'looks can be deceiving'. This is shown when comparing the study's in the real and other worlds. The real world study is dull, dowdy and cold with a grey and blue colour palette. This makes the audience feel like the space is miserable and unpleasant to be in. The director did this to show that Coraline is upset that her father is to busy to spend time with her. Juxtaposed to this is they study in the other world. Artificial oranges and reds make the other study feel warm, welcoming and enticing. Selick does this to show the audience that this is the kind of world Coraline would like to live in. Colour is used to make the other world feel like a safe place but it is actually a trap to lure in Coraline and steal her SOUL!

In the second picture the lighting is used and efficient way to enhance the reader, and make it seem like the other world is going to be bright, better and happy. The lighting looks like a cold light but still feels a bit warm and exciting. When comparing the real world and other world kitchens, lighting is used effectively to enhance the story. The real world kitchen uses a natural cold light coming through the window to make the space feel cold, bored and unhappy. The directer did this to show the audience that coraline isn't happy there. In comparason, the other world kitchen has an artificial warm orange lighting light that creates a welcoming, happy and safe atmosphere. Selick used this technique to show that coraline is happy in this perfect world. It is the perfect trap to  capture coraline. This can be compared to later in the film when coraline realizes the other mother is evil from this point the lighting in the other world becomes duller like the real world to show coraline doesn't want to stay there anymore.

The kitchen is a symbol that depending on coralines mood the colours of the worlds are different because in the real world she is bored and sad but in the other world she is happy and having fun.

Although it has lots of energy the music is in a minor key to foreshadow that things aren't quit right in the other world.It starts with quiet dynamics and gets louder to build anticipation. This makes audience understand that something will go wrong later but for now, Coraline is enjoying the other world.The director did this to show that the other garden is a lively and energetic place, unlike the real world.

I chose this design because i thought it was realistic and looks cool

On december 14th I wrote a letter to santa claus saying “dear santa i have been a good boy this year sometime im naughty but i try not to. I hope i can get a velociraptor. I always wanted one but my mum said NO! I am really excited for christmas i will leave cookies for you. Bye santa” then on december the 24th on christmas eve and I was really excited for a dinosaur “toy”. I baked a batch of cookies for Santa and his elf but i burned it. I went to bed at 10 acock because my mum said i have to sleep before santa comes. So i went to bed that night and dreamed of me and my toy dinosaur playing at the park. I heard a lot of noises throughout the night but my mum said to not get up if i here stuff. I did what she said but I realized that it wasn't a normal noise. I did the wrong thing and got up. Midway to the christmas tree I seen my mums door open. It was my mum, she didn't see me as runed to my room. I went to sleep and woke up around 11 aclock in the morning.

I was so excited about my toy dinosaur. As I walked into the lounge I heard a roar, i thought it was my toy dinosaur but when i seen this giant present i got really excited that i got the life size doll. I rushed to open it but my mum said “WAIT!” I said “ok” I waited for about 10 minuets then my mum finally said i can open it. But as I went to rip the wrapping paper the “toy” broke through the box. My mum screamed and my dad fainted. I was standing there in shock. The velociraptor went straight to the kitchen and ate all the christmas dinner. He (or she) licked their lips while staring at me it charged at me and knocked me over. I ran to my bed and for about two minutes I was hiding. I quickly ran out and got my ninja turtles toy and attack the dinosaur. I jumped out  the window into the woods. While i was in the woods the dinosaur ran up behind me and scratched me. He lied on the ground and looked like he wanted to play i pat him and he was real happy i soon went home and my parents were no were to be seen. Turns out they were in their room crying. They thought the dinosaur ate me. When they heard the bedroom door open they both ran straight to me. They hugged me so tight. Then the dinosaur walked in and ate my mum. My dad fainted once again and called the cops. The dinosaur got taken away and I was kinda sad but happy I didn't have to look after a dinosaur but my mum was dead. This year I didn't ask for a dinosaur I asked for a toy snake.

Horror camping trip

Me and my three closest friends (Fia, Si, and Sabby), decide to go camping. We arrived and set up camp nearly three miles away from where we left my car. Late that evening, as we sat around the campfire roasting marshmallows, one of my friends reveals a deep dark secret that turns what was to be a fun weekend into one of the scariest weekends of my life. 

I made a group chat with Fia, Sabby, Si, and I. I invited them to an abandoned camping grounds. Sabby messaged back a couple of minutes later and said he is keen. FIA had to ask her parents if she could come. Si didn't reply till the morning she was asleep but she said that she was free for the weekend. That day we went to the warehouse to buy camping needs. We all meet at the picnic table we always used to meet when we were kids. This is what we bought a lot of food, a big tent, sleeping bags and torches. Me and Fia went in the same car and we went back to mine to pack the rest of the stuff. Two days later we all meet and we took sabbys car because his parents took his. Me and Fia went in my car and Sabby and Si went in Sabbys parents car.

One day I was with my friend his name was Noah he was a toad. We were headed to the park but on our way there we stumbled upon a Unicorn. Noah whipped out his sword and was about to chop the unicorn into millions of pieces and put him in to a fruit salad. But i wanted a american bun instead. Then me and Noah started to make out so we did not pay interest in that situation. On our way to the crazy people house (aka our house) we found the unicorn in a bush. The bush stank so we ran but the unicorn chased us. We arrived home and didn't realize the unicorn followed us home. We went to the kitchen to make some dinner and we heard a loud noise from the basement. We took some knives and went into the basement. Turns out the unicorn ate all my food from the basement and was asleep. I just watched the unicorn sleep so he cant leave. Writing

It was a nice sunny day but it was still unusual and different. It was quiet. It was not busy and there was no one anywhere. Simon walked down to school and saw his best friend Luke, but no one else. Simon and Luke went back to Simon’s house and his Mum was there cooking. She said “Why aren't you two at school?”

“No one is there” Simon answered. Then Simon’s Mum Laura then checked her phone. The message from yesterday said that the school was going on a trip to Seaworld.

Simon and Luke had missed the bus. “Damn it”  yelled Simon and Luke. They ran up stairs. They played video games for four hours straight.  Luke’s Mum Harper came over and said it was time to go home. Luke and Simon said goodbye and Simon returned upstairs. Another hour past by and Simon raced  downstairs to get food. He opened the fridge and then he realized his Mum wasn't in the dining room, kitchen, lounge, bathroom, or bedroom. He went outside and saw that the sky was orange. He heard a massive BANG two times, BANG, BANG and then BOOM!

Simon ran inside and hid under his bed. He was freaked out.  Simon called MUM! enough times to realize she was gone when she didn’t answer. There was shaking, banging, loud noises, and weird sounds. He peeked out and something fell on his head ARGHHHHH! When he woke up from being knocked out the house and land was a bad sight. It was dusty, smelly, and dark. No sound of people or anyone.

He ran to his best friends house to escape his home that was destroyed. Luke was still alive. “My Mum is gone and my dog Ace too” Luke said.

“So is my Mum” Simon replied. They saw two shadows further down the road. It looked like two women.   Luke and Simon raced to the shadows to find out that the women were actually two ZOMBIES!  Luke ran for his life leaving Simon alone. Simon yelled “WAIT!”. He ignored him and ran to Luke's house.

Simon eventually got to Luke’s home. They locked the doors and shut the windows. Then they grabbed lots food, water, blankets, pillows, fans, cords, tv, iPad, iPhone, iMac,  and of course chargers. They ran into the attic. It was so dark and dusty. They could not find a light switch so they looked for a torch in all the mess they made. “Wait” Luke said. “What?” Simon replied. “We forgot the torch” Luke said back. “One of us has to go down there and it ain't me” Simon said. Luke finally went down and grabbed the torch. They plugged in the T.V. but it wouldn't turn on. They finally figured out that the power lines would have been broken down. They played games that didn't need wifi for a little while until they heard a noise coming from the other side of the attic, the dark side. They shone the torch at the darkness.  There appeared a little girl just sitting there staring at them. When she looked at the light she turned and screamed, in such a high pitched voice that Luke and Simon had to cover their ears. She screamed for ages .  She was not going to stop anytime soon. The boys snathced the bags of food and ran down the attic stairs.

The boys ran outside into a rusty old shed across the road.  Inside there were blankets, pillows, a torch, candles and other stuff. They were confused about the stuff in there and sat down on two crates that were in the corner. The door started to slowly opened. Luke hid under the blanket and Simon sat there scared out of his brains.

When the door opened it was a old scary looking man. Then a german shepard that was beside the old man ran to Luke. When the dog ran towards Luke he did not know what was happening but then it came to his head that it was Ace. ACE! Luke yelled. That’s when the old man steeped in “Ace?” He said .“His name is Lock not Ace”. Luke looked confused “Then why did he run to me and looks like my dog that was not at my house when this started?” “I don't know” the old man replied. “Ok” said luke “Lets see what name he replies to”. Luke started to say “Ace come on Ace”. Then the man “Lock come on boy come on”. Ace or supposedly Lock sat in the middle so confused. But eventually he went by the name Ace. Luke already knew it was Ace cause of the big white spot on his back. The old man didn't care “Anyway” the old man said

“I'm Bill people call me Old Man Bill.” “Ok so use two will be staying with me and listen to what I say Simon said “We never said we wanted to stay with you”. Said Luke. “Well it will be the best option”. Replied Old Man Bill. “Ok….” said Luke. Then Simon said “So what is happening”. “The Zombies have come from planet dungerdo”. Said Old Man Bill. “What kind of planet is that” Simon laughed. “Far Away” Old Man Bill replied. “But if we're gonna kill these zombies we need the zombie gun”. “Well where is it”? Luke Asked Old Man Bill was smiling and laughing when he said “You're gonna help me find it aren't youse”? “Nah ghee”. Simon Replied “We ain't going anywhere with you”. Luke said. “WELL THEN DIE” Old Man Bill Yelled. They ran to the park with the dog and hid in the playground. The dog started barking alot so old man bill found them. They keep runing to the sea and then they jump on a boat but then the boat started to move and there was a lady on it. The dog ate the lady and the end.

Explain (how the evidence explains the point) - Therefore, the reader is shocked to discover Antonio and Shylock can come to an agreement about money lending. It is also shocking because when shylock calls Antonio out for the way he treats him, Antonio tells Shylock that he will spit on him and call him a dog again. This treatment is not usual between people who make agreements.
Link (link back to my key argument) - With treatment like this from Antonio towards Shylock, and a promise to be just as cruel as in the future, it is shocking that they both agreed to the bond.

Shylock Character Study #3

Many characters hold anti semitic views, but in places Shakespeare lets Shylock speak from the heart and suddenly we see him as a human, not a stereotype.

• In A1S3 when Shylock offers to lend money without interest some argue that he is being kind, do you agree? Kind because he is offering to give someone money which not much people would do.
• In A3S1 Shylock suffers great losses. Look for suggestions of his sorrow, loneliness and feelings for his dead wife. Tubal says ¨one of them showed me a ring that he had of your daughter for a monkey¨. Shylock replies with ¨out upon her, thou tortures me tubal. it was my turquoise, i had it of Leah when i was a bachelor. i would not have given it for a wilderness of monkeys.¨

• In A4S1 when Shylock is sentenced, we again feel pity for him. Why is this an achievement for Shakespeare (consider his audience) Because they want us to feel bad and feel like we are in the strory.
• The Merchant of Venice is considered a comedy, however the character of Shylock makes it feel more of a tragi-comedy. Do you feel he is portrayed more as a villain or victim. Write a paragraph explaining your thoughts with supporting evidence from the play. I think he is a victim because shylock made a choice and antonio agreed.
• It has been argued that the play should be renamed ‘The Jew of Venice’. Why do you think this is? Would it change your initial view of the play? Would it be a more suitable name? Well it is about a jew but not really because the other characters make the story more fun and the title doesn't seem good but the merchant of Venice is a good name.
